Additional info:
Dorian Szasz was a Romanian-Hungarian artist who worked primarily with painting. His works often take thematic inspiration from sports such as football, rugby or basketball. In his paintings, Szasz skillfully captures the performativity of social interactions and the rich collective language generated by human bodies that move together as well as against each other. The well-defined blocks of often primary colours and abstracted shapes make up bold compositions that evoke a utopian conception of modern man. Throughout his career, Szasz exhibited internationally in Rome, Naples, Bucharest, Bratislava, Moscow, or Paris in both solo and group exhibitions. His works are part of important collections such as that of MNAC, National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest. In 2021, Szasz was included in the exhibition Football. Realism of the Game organised by tranzit.ro in Bucharest which reviewed the local sports culture in relation to the visual arts.
