Additional info:
Ioana Maria Sisea is a Romanian contemporary artist working with different mediums such as ceramics, drawings, sculpture, and video. Her works define a rigorous conceptual vision on the embodiment of capital in our everyday life structures and its diverse dynamics. In 2022, Sisea graduated from the MA program at the Royal College of Art in London, and now she is developing her PhD project at the University of Art and Design in Cluj. Interested in various social and critical theories, Sisea is continuously questioning concepts such as desire in relation to capitalism and society. Her critical practice is disseminated through a material body of work that deconstructs various discourses proposed by the media industry. Sisea's choice to work with ceramics as an artistic medium gives her the ability of an immediate response, adopting a humorous and reflexive stance on daily expressions of hedonism and how they are boosted in media culture. Sisea’s works have been presented in both solo and group exhibitions at the Royal College of Art, London; Museum of Art, Cluj-Napoca; Diehl Gallery, Berlin; Zina Gallery, Cluj-Napoca; Jecza Gallery, Timișoara.
