Jonathan Meese is a conceptual artist with a diverse practice that includes performance, installation, painting, and sculpture, and which mainly addresses the themes of power, desire, and identity. Meese uses a composite of references to historical, legendary, and science fiction figures, who can be said to represent different facets of the artist’s identity.
