Additional info:
Maria Bordeanu (b.1982) is a Romanian painter whose work explores the intersections of photorealism, media imagery, and cultural memory. Born in Bucharest, she studied Painting at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in 2007. Since 2011 she has been represented by 418 Gallery, with projects in both Cetate and Munich, and has participated in numerous international exhibitions. Bordeanu’s paintings are distinguished by intricate imagery and a meticulous focus on detail, often drawing on baroque visual traditions, photography, and recollected fragments of experience. Her recent projects investigate the dialogue between the landscape and the human figure, while her broader practice incorporates cinematic themes, post-human metaphors, and dystopian undertones that interrogate the saturation of images in contemporary culture.
