Additional info:
Stefania Batoeva (b. 1981 Sofia, Bulgaria) is a visual artist who mainly works with painting. She graduated from The Royal College of Art, London in 2014, where she studied sculpture. Since 2017, she has taught Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. Her works draw from autobiographical experiences, equally showing a particular interest in subcultural lives, music, literature, and theory. Motifs recur throughout Batoeva’s works, having an exquisite psychoanalytic power. Colourful strokes and layers combine to create complex, absurd narratives, that open up the onlooker to a rich interiority. Batoeva’s works have been exhibited in the past decade in Los Angeles, Warsaw, London, Bucharest, Turin, and Vienna.
