Zamfir Dumitrescu was a Romanian painter. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts "Nicolae Grigorescu" in Bucharest in 1970. He was a university professor and later the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. He was also a member of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania and served as its president from 2002 to 2007. During his career, he supported the contemporary artistic phenomenon and initiated several laws related to the compensation of retired artists. He was also a member of international organizations such as the International Guild of Realism and the Italian association CallforArt.
