Zsófia Keresztes (b. 1985, Budapest, Hungary) is a Budapest-based artist who completed her fine art studies in 2010 at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest. Made in 2020, the drawing is part of the project the artist submitted for the Venice Biennale, where she will represent the Hungarian Pavilion for the 59th Venice Biennale. After she finished her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts she started to create sculptures using everyday materials, from cardboards to textiles. Zsófia developed this technique with glass mosaics in 2018 and since then, her sculptures and installations were shown amongst others, at the 15th Lyon Biennale, Institute of Contemporary Art, Lyon; 100 artists in the city, produced by MOCO – Montpellier Contemporain and Mécènes du sud, Montpellier-Sète; Liquid Bodies, Philara Collection, Düsseldorf; Brno Art Open, Brno (2019). Her interest in the virtual world and how death and life occurs within that context remains in focus till today with shifts towards hydro-feminist ideas that are essential in her Venice Biennial’s project.
