Bidding Regulations
BEFORE BIDDING
Before bidding in an auction on the Ans Azura platform please create an account following all the steps in our Buying Guide. Please note that you may only bid after your account has been validated.
If you have already created an account, please log in.
After logging in, please access the auctions section on the Ans Azura platform and select the auctions you are interested in. All auctions are available online at least 14 days before the bidding starts.
You can add auctions to your calendar by clicking on the Add to Calendar button or you can choose to be notified about the auctions you are interested in.
Before bidding you will be asked to accept the Terms and Conditions. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By bidding, in addition to the Hammer Price, you agree to pay to Ans Azura the Buyer’s Premium and applicable Buyer’s Expenses (any applicable related artist resale royalty rights and any shipping expenses and all duties, taxes, VAT, and/or custom processing fees payable by the Buyer).
The works of art which are subject to artist resale royalty rights ('droit de suite') are marked with an * in the description of the work of art. The amount of the royalties is calculated using a sliding scale of percentages of the Hammer Price, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
ONLINE-ONLY AUCTIONS
Online-only auctions start and end on their respective auction section.
Bidding in online-only auctions starts at the established opening time of the auction and closes at the established closing time of the auction displayed at the top of the auction’s respective page.
If at the closing time of the online-only auction there are active Bidders on certain lots, those lots will remain active after the established closing time of the auction and the closing of those lots will happen after 2 minutes of inactivity on each lot.
You may participate in our online-only auctions by placing a direct bid on the lots of your interest.
If you are outbid by another bidder, you will be notified on the auction page and by e-mail. Each time you are outbid and before the closing time of the auction you may place a new bid.
LIVE-STREAMED AUCTIONS
Live-streamed auctions start as online auctions on their respective auction sections and are followed by a live stream led by an auctioneer. When the auction moves to live stream, an Auction Room will become available.
Starting with the opening time of the Auction, but before the Auction Room opens, you may
- place Advance Bids online from your account;
- place Absentee Bid;
- contact Ans Azura in order to establish that you will be called for telephone bidding during the live-stream.
Advance Bid: a bidding method you may use if you wish to place a maximum bid online from your account on Ans Azura’s Platform, after the auction starts but before the Auction Room opens. Your Advance Bid will be executed on your behalf starting with the moment you place it and during the live-streamed auction and will offer you the next increment corresponding to the amount of the starting price of the lots of your interest and will be advanced competitively until the lot is adjudicated or until the maximum amount of your Advance Bid is reached, whichever occurs first up to the value of your Advance Bid, and only as long as there is competition for your bid. This means you may not spend the entire amount of the bid you have placed in order to win a lot.
If you are outbid by another Bidder before the Auction Room opens, you will be notified on the auction page and by e-mail. Each time you are outbid and before the closing time of the auction you may place a new bid.
If you choose to participate in the live-streamed auction and you have previously placed an Advance Bid and the maximum amount of your Advance Bid is reached, you may continue bidding in the Auction Room.
Absentee Bid: a bidding method you may use if you cannot or do not wish to attend a live-streamed auction. You may send Absentee Bids to Ans Azura by filling in and signing the “Absentee Bid Form” available on your account and sending it to ansazura@ansazura.com. Please make sure that you send such an e-mail at least 2 hours before the Auction Room opens.
Absentee Bids allow you to place a maximum bid. Your Absentee Bid will be executed on your behalf during the live-streamed auction and will offer you the next increment corresponding to the amount of the starting price of the lot of your interest and will be advanced competitively until the lot is adjudicated or until the maximum amount of your Absentee Bid is reached, whichever occurs first and only as long as there is competition for your bid. This means you may not spend the entire amount of the bid you have placed in order to win a lot.
Your bid mentioned on the Absentee Bid Form you e-mailed to ansazura@ansazura.com before the auction will be registered in your name by the Ans Azura Team in the Auction Room.
When placing an Absentee Bid or an Advance Bid you accept personal liability to pay the Purchase Price consisting of the Hammer Price (when the amount of your Absentee Bid or Advance Bid is the highest bid duly accepted by Ans Azura upon the closing of the auction) and Buyer’s Premium plus applicable Buyer's Expenses.
Contact Ans Azura in order to establish that you will be called for telephone bidding during the live-stream: You can opt for telephone bidding during the live streamed auction, in which case you should appoint Ans Azura to bid on your behalf in the Auction Room by sending an e-mail to ansazura@ansazura.com. Please make sure that you send such an e-mail at least 2 hours before the Auction Room opens.
After the Auction Room opens, you will be able to access the Auction Room with a simple click on the designated Auction Room window, marked with “Enter the Auction Room” and place bids in real time in the Auction Room.
If you opted for telephone bidding, our team will call you 2 lots before the lot(s) you are interested in and will place the bids you confirm during the recorded telephone conversation. If the bid you place via telephone is the highest bid for the lot(s) you are interested in, you accept personal liability to pay the Purchase Price consisting of the Hammer Price and Buyer’s Premium plus applicable Buyer's Expenses.
Please note that it may be possible that a Bidder who participates in the Auction Room outbids your Advance Bid placed online from your account or your Absentee Bid.
If you have placed an Advance Bid from your account before the Auction Room opened, you will be able to continue bidding, real time, in the Auction Room by pressing the Bid Button on your screen.
General order of priority is: Telephone bids and bis placed in the Auction Room take first priority, followed by Absentee Bids sent by e-mail ansazura@ansazura.com. Advance Bids placed from your account before the Auction Room opened come next in priority.
Please note that after the Auction Room opens, you will only be notified on the auction page when you are outbid and you may place a new bid in the Auction Room.
AFTER AUCTION
If you are the winning Bidder we will notify you on the auction page and by e-mail at the closing time of the auction and we will send you the invoice for the Purchase Price and applicable Buyer’s Expenses (any applicable related artist resale royalties and any shipping expenses and all duties, taxes, VAT, and/or custom processing fees payable by the Buyer) by e-mail. Prior to receiving the invoice, you will be asked to fill in the anti-money-laundering and know-your-customers documents, as per European regulations.
After paying the Purchase Price and the Buyer's Expenses (any applicable related artist resale royalties and any shipping expenses and all duties, taxes, VAT, and/or custom processing fees payable by the Buyer), you should collect, arrange for the shipment, or instruct us to ship the work of art.
