2Meta is a multidisciplinary artist duo from Romania, active since 1998 and formed by Maria Manolescu and Romelo Pervolovici. The duo’s practice is driven by a strong conceptual foundation and spans multiple media such as video, photography, painting, and installation. Their practice is informed by the members’ complementary educational backgrounds in fine art (Romelo Pervolovici) and the humanities (Maria Manolescu).
2Meta relates the notion of the “meta” to the recent history of Eastern Europe and its complex politics of transition. Moreover, the duo views its meta-artistic practice as extending beyond the traditional understanding of “art about art”, introducing intriguing notions such as art versus art or art infested by art.
Since its formation, 2Meta has presented their works in Romania and abroad, in countries such as Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, and Italy.
The works of art which are subject to artist resale royalty rights ('droit de suite') are marked with an * in the description of the work of art. The amount of the royalties is calculated using a sliding scale of percentages of the Hammer Price.
