Alexandra Croitoru is a visual artist, curator and educator based in Bucharest, whose practice is rooted in photography while extending towards text, publication, installation, video and performance. Trained at the National Academy of Arts Bucharest between 1993 and 1998, she later obtained a PhD from UNArte, where she has taught in the Photo Video Department since 1999. Her artistic and curatorial work examines the construction of personal, collective and national identities, with a sustained interest in the visual codes through which gender, authority and political representation are produced. Her projects have been shown in institutional contexts including MNAC Bucharest, MUMOK Vienna, Kunsthalle Winterthur and Art Encounters.
