Additional info:
Alin Bozbiciu is a Romanian figurative painter, widely regarded as one of the most significant artists of the Cluj School of Painting. He holds a degree from the University of Arts and Design in Cluj. Bozbiciu’s elaborate compositions draw from personal mythologies, powerful existential statements, and art historical references. The celestial characters depicted in his works find themselves under the influence of a baroque imaginary, with human bodies captured in gracefully theatrical poses. The bodily gestures are portrayed on the canvas through a palette of colours that oscillates between soft and darker tones, meticulously conveying the flow of movement through Bozbiciu's precise painting technique. The artist’s subjects, both human and non-human, are pictured in private landscapes, engaged in intimate scenes that evoke a sense of melancholy. Often, the characters gaze downward toward the floor, appearing in sombre representations with undefined contours that compel the viewer to immerse themselves in the emotionally intense language of Bozbiciu’s paintings and to decrypt its symbolism. Bozbiciu’s works have been exhibited internationally, both in solo and group exhibitions, such as at Art Paris 2023, the 2021 Art Encounters Biennial in Timișoara, Richard Taittinger Gallery, New York, Doris Ghetta Gallery in Ortisei, Italy, and the Amsterdam Art Center. His paintings are part of many important private collections across Europe, South America, and Asia.
