Additional info:
Born in 1978 in Tulcea, Romania, Alina Crasovschi Feneș is a conceptual artist who lives and works in Petru Vodă village, Romania. Her practice was recently rediscovered in a 2021 solo show at Suprainfinit Gallery, with a series of new works that announced the artist’s revival. Crasovschi Feneș’s paintings conceive of alternative worlds that halt the usual coordinates of space and time. Part-human, part-divine creatures are the main characters of surreal narratives. A constant inspiration for Crasovschi Feneș is the plotting paper. The network of small squares helps Crasovschi Feneș construct the unfolding of stories that are not bound by the spatiotemporal logics of reality. Strongly linked to Crasovschi Feneș’s personal biography and to quotidian rituals, her works bring together the material and the immaterial, the rural and the urban, mobilising calmness and contemplation on behalf of the viewer.
