Additional info:
Born in Qamishli, Syria in 1979, Kurdish artist Azad Hemee graduated from the Adham Ismail Center of Fine Arts in 2003. His training being somewhat classical, the artist formed his own style with inspiration from the art of the decade he was born in: the 80s. He has, since his graduation, been exhibited around the Arab world, and recently in Germany and France as well. Hemee is known for his series depicting cockfights in which he brilliantly captures these violent moments of struggle between magnificently painted roosters. Hemee’s works are housed in collections all over the Middle-East, Europe and North America.
