Description
Cecilia Cuţescu Storck was a Romanian painter and sculptor who made a significant contribution to the country’s art scene during the 20th century. Born in Bucharest, Romania in 1886, she studied at the National School of Fine Arts before going to study in Paris. She was known for her use of vibrant colours and dynamic compositions, often featuring powerful women as the central subject of her works.
Cuţescu Storck was the first female member of the Romanian Academy. She had numerous exhibitions in Romania and abroad, including exhibitions in Paris, Vienna and Brussels. Her work can be found in museums and private collections throughout Romania and Europe.
In addition to her paintings and sculptures, Cuţescu Storck was also known for her activism, particularly her efforts to promote women’s rights and equality. Throughout her life, she remained dedicated to her art and was a true inspiration to many aspiring artists. She passed away in 1964, leaving behind a legacy of beauty and activism that continues to inspire people to this day.
