Additional info:
Cornel Medrea was a Romanian sculptor. He studied sculpture under the guidance of György Zala at the School of Decorative Arts in Budapest. His sculptural practice was varied, taking on many themes and genres, yet made consistent by the robust, full shapes of the works. Medrea’s works were exhibited at the Venice Biennial in 1928, 1938, 1956, and 1958, as well as at the Maison d’Art in Paris, together with those of Dimitre Paciurea and Gabriel Popescu. He received the Grand Prize at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937, and The International Prize at the International Exhibition in New York in 1939.
