Cristian Răduță

b. Ploiești, Romania, 1982

Additional info:

Cristian Răduță’s sculptural practice examines the instability of form, the status of ordinary objects and the narrative potential of materials. Trained at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, where he completed his master’s degree in 2007 and later his doctorate in Visual Arts in 2013, he also spent two years at the Accademia di Romania in Rome following a scholarship received in 2006. His work moves between sculpture, object and installation, often starting from hypothetical or absurd scenarios, populated by hybrid figures and situations treated with controlled humour. Working primarily with fibreglass, plaster, textiles, industrial elements and bricolage materials, Răduță explores processes of metamorphosis and the tensions produced when familiar forms are displaced into new material and spatial conditions. His recent exhibitions include The Ballad of the Children of the Czar at Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest, in 2024, The Diamond Hunters at Nicodim, Los Angeles, in 2019, The Extra Mile at Galeria Nicodim, Bucharest, in 2018, and The Anatomy of A Journey at Electroputere Gallery, Craiova, in 2017. His works are held in collections including MNAC Bucharest, Clay and Glass Gallery of Ontario, Art in Embassies Collection, Art Collection Telekom and private collections in Europe and North America.
