Description

Miodrag Djuric, known as Dado, was born on October 4, 1933 at Cetinje, Montenegro (Former Yugoslavia). Dado graduated in 1956 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade.

He studies at the School of Fine Art in Herceg Novi (Montenegro) before entering the School of Fine Art in Belgrade where he follows the painting class of 1956 of Marko Čelebonović. Marko Čelebonović helps him leave to Paris on August 15. Dado quickly moved from Paris to the countryside of Vexin. In 1960, he settled in a former water mill in Hérouval, Oise. This place was a haven of creation and social life until his death.

Besides travelling several times to New York, he had a unique experience joining a team of medical researchers in Central Africa in 1974, spending a month with the Pygmies of the Central African Republic rainforest. Other noticeable experiences were a discovery of India in 1992 and a trip to Guatemala in 1997.

Dado received several awards during his career, including: Posthumously award "Ivan Crnojević"; The 13th July Award, the highest national distinction of Montenegro.

His works became characterized by intricate compositions, hybrid figures, and dreamlike landscapes, often exploring themes of violence, death, and the human condition. Dado's artistic output garnered acclaim for its vibrant imagination, enigmatic quality, and exploration of the depths of the human psyche. He has been recognized as one of the significant artists of his generation, and his artistic legacy continues to influence numerous contemporary artists.

He passed away in at the age of 77 in Pontoise near Paris on November 27, 2010.
