Additional info:
Born in 1988 in Cluj, Romania, Eugen Roșca is an esteemed contemporary artist whose works have been shown in Bucharest, Cluj, Berlin, London, and Hong Kong. Roșca is a master of technique and colour, managing to effortlessly bring together the style of the Dutch Golden Age and of modern naive art. His paintings depict complex theatrical scenes where tradition and modernity, the rational and the incomprehensible, the trivial and the otherworldly get enmeshed, as enigmatic characters are captured in intense emotional exchanges. Unusual harmony and humorous tension build between the sometimes even conflicting references that populate Roșca’s works, in an uncanny interplay of spiritual transcendence and contemporary entertainment.
