Eugen Tăutu is a Romanian artist and philosopher who was born on May 5, 1945, in Sibiu. He received his primary and high school education in Sibiu before going on to study at the Fine Arts Institute of the University of Bucharest and the Faculty of History and Philosophy of Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj. He later became a teacher at the Arts High School in Sibiu. In 2005 he settled in France. Tăutu is a multi-talented artist who works in a variety of mediums, including painting, graphics, sculpture, engraving, mosaic, lithography, and poetry. He made his exhibition debut in 1968 in Bucharest, and since then has had numerous personal and collective exhibitions both in Romania and abroad. His works can be found in museums in Romania and France (Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu, the Art Museum in Tg. Jiu, Cluj Art Museum, Bucharest Art Museum, Galati Contemporary Art Museum, and Bordeaux Printing Museum). Throughout his career, Tăutu has received several prizes and honors, including the Bronze medal – Salon 94, Society of French Artists, Paris in 1994. He was a member of the Union of Visual Artists from Romania (1971), a corporate member of the Society of French Artists (1995), and a member of the International Association of Visual Arts under UNESCO. Tăutu has also written volumes of poetry and monographs about various artists such as Brâncuși, Rodin, Bourdelle, Jean Arp, Henry Moore, and Antoine Poncet. He decorated the Aula Magna of the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca with a large monumental work from 1981-1987 and has a work titled "Le fils de la sagesse" (3X9 sqm) in Saint-Jean Station in Bordeaux. Tăutu's contributions to the field of fine arts have earned him a place in dictionaries and encyclopedias, including "Who's who" of international art, which has a page dedicated to him.
