Florina Drăguș graduated in 2016 from the National University of Arts, Bucharest, Painting Department. In her work, the artist appropriates elements from life which she reinterprets through a reflexive process. Her approach encompasses various media of visual expression, such as painting, sculpture, and object. What makes Drăguș’s artworks stand out is the dialogue between the various materials she uses, and the dynamism of the forms found in nature, which she transposes into her work to disclose her constant search for the self to the viewer. The power of suggestion regarding different states of mind is present in compositions based on the reinterpretation of the idea of landscape. Florina Drăguș’s intervention resonates with her naturalness, endowing daily snapshots with fluidity and harmony. The artist herself notes: “I have always been interested in observing the startling side of life which is the being – the being in all its infinite forms that constantly change and adjust to the environment in order to evolve. The synergy of the natural world provides me the impetus to search and explore a multifaceted approach of certain ideas which are in harmony with the self and the objective reality. This explains why I started to include in my work all sorts of materials, such as scraps of wood and organic forms. The matter I use is transformed, re-directed, given a new purpose, that is to re-compose the fragments of observation and experience in a fluid manner connected to my psyche. Thus, the observation becomes more a mirroring process of the mind, the feeling, and the physical world, a dynamic exchange reified in the artworks.”
