Description
Horea Paștina is a Romanian artist known for his religious and deeply moving paintings. His use of colour has become more and more akin to what can be called the “white light of the spirit”. His gardens appear to be the image of what we might imagine the “gardens of heaven” to be, characterised by peaceful and unspoiled light and eternity. His paintings propose an image of Eden found in our earthly world.
Paștina's work is characterised by his use of bright colours and dynamic brushstrokes. He often draws upon themes from his childhood, such as the rugged countryside of his native Romania, as well as his travels to other parts of the world. Through his paintings, he aims to convey a sense of energy and movement, as well as to comment on social and political issues that are important to him.
Paștina received his formal training at the art academy of Timișoara, where he studied painting and drawing. He later went on to become an influential member of the Romanian art community, participating in numerous exhibitions and art events both in Romania and abroad.
