Description
Lovro Artuković is a Berlin based artist, born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1959. He is recognised as a leading CEE figurative painter and graphic artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb, where he was an assistant professor until moving to Berlin in 2001. His most notable exhibitions include the ones from MoMA Zagreb, Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle Berlin, MoMA Dubrovnik, and Art Pavilion Zagreb.
His works are part of public and private collections, such as the collections of the Albertina Modern Vienna, MoCA Zagreb, MoMA Split, Lauba Collection Zagreb, Antonić Cerin Collection Zagreb, Braun Collection Zürich, Neda Young Collection New York.
This is the latest artwork by Artuković, an intimate drawing of Proserphine, Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld. A female model is depicted in his Berlin studio in front of his own drawings from the same series, inspired by classical mythology.
