Additional info:
Luminița Țăranu is a Romanian artist working with different mediums such as painting, drawing, engraving, lithography, and installation. She graduated in 1985 from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, under the guidance of painter and graphic artist Octav Grigorescu. Her works have been presented in countries such as Italy and Romania. Țăranu's artistic practice is guided by a balance between the conceptual transformation of her works and her ongoing research. Her works construct dialectics of metamorphosis, describing complex relationships between the human and the animal, culture and nature. Employing repetitive and overlapping patterns of contrasting colours, shapes, texts, and bodily forms, Țăranu's artistic practice subtly yet powerfully stresses the unsettling effects that humans have over natural landscapes and the multi-species consequences of anthropogenic climate change. In 2020, Luminița Țăranu was awarded the Special Prize for the Foreign Artist at the 47th edition of Sulmona International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Italy.
