Description

Milan Blanuša was born in Jagodina in 1943, but spent his childhood in Vršac, where he finished elementary and secondary schools. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, in 1967, Department of Painting, class of Professor Ljubica Sokić. He completed his postgraduate studies at the State High-school of Fine Arts in Braunschweig (1967-1971) and specialized in graphic arts at the State High-school of Fine Arts in Frankfurt/Main in 1978. Since 1973 he has been a member of the Association of Serbian Artists (ASA - ULUS).

He began as Teaching Assistant for painting and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad in 1976, from which he retired as Full Professor in 2011. He was elected Professor Emeritus at the same institution in 2012. He also taught as Full Professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade (1992-1998) and the Faculty of Fine Arts at Cetinje (1999-2004).

He has had solo shows since 1968 and in the meantime has organized more than fifty exhibitions of paintings, drawings, graphic prints and sculptures, both locally and abroad.

Blanuša has received numerous awards, such as the October Salon award for painting (1978), The ULUS Golden Palette (1992), the Politika award (2000), the Big Seal of the Association of Graphic Artists (2002), Sava Šumanović award (2005), Award of the City of Belgrade (2017).

His works can be found in the most important museum collections in the country: National Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, Nadežda Petrović Gallery in Čačak, and so on.
