Additional info:
Napoleon Tiron is a Romanian artist whose main medium is abstract sculpture. After graduating from the National University of Arts in Bucharest under the close guidance of Romanian sculptor Boris Caragea, in 1971 Tiron was awarded the locally prestigious Frederic Storck Scholarship. His work has been exhibited internationally in cities such as Prague, Budapest, London, Athens, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Stuttgart, Karlovy Vary, in both solo and group shows. Experimenting with different materials throughout his life such as brass, marble and concrete, Tiron's main choice of material has been wood. His practice describes a coherent artistic process–the wooden shapes and textures give birth to unique twists between the modern and the traditional. In 2015, Tiron was part of an exhibition retracing the legacies of Constantin Brâncuși at Plan B Gallery.
