Additional info:
Nicolae Maniu is an esteemed Romanian painter. Shortly after graduating in 1969 from the University of Art and Design in Cluj, Maniu’s paintings were exhibited in various museums and galleries in Romania and abroad, such as the Grand Palais, Paris; the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Cluj; the Inter Art Galerie Reich, Cologne; Maison de la Diète Gallery, Sion; and Michelle Boulet Gallery, Paris. Maniu's paintings collate a highly personal universe, crafted with patience and knowledge, bridging the classic and the modern. His technique is accomplished, as the artist achieves bright compositions that produce a three dimensional effect akin to Renaissance master painters. Through balanced blends of colours such as brown, grey and blue, Maniu creates a visual language in which realism and fantastic narratives fade together in a flawless symbiosis. Among many prizes and awards, Nicoale Maniu was the recipient of the Gold Medal awarded by the Higher Commission of Reward "French Merit and Devotion" in 2000.
