Description
Oana Farcaș (b. 1981) is a Romanian painter whose artistic practice engages with the philosophical depth of female identity and its symbolic manifestations. She studied at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca between 1999 and 2005, completing both her master’s degree in painting and, subsequently, her doctoral studies in 2010.
Her works createa rich visual dialogue in which traditional symbols of femininity intersect with the vocabularies of modern and contemporary aesthetics. Objects within her compositions acquire narrative significance, orchestrating encounters between historical archetypes and present-day sensibilities. The result is a layered exploration of duality, where the female figure becomes a site of both continuity and transformation - a nexus of cultural memory and modern reinvention.
Farcaș has exhibited widely, with solo and group shows hosted by institutions such as the Hugo Voeten Art Center in Herentals, the Mind Set Art Center in Taipei, the Fondation Françès in Senlis, the Louis Vuitton Espace Culturel in Paris, Kunsthalle Athena in Athens, the Peugeot Art Centre in Paris, Mucsarnok Kunsthalle in Budapest, the Museum of Modern Art Kunsten in Aalborg, the Aarhus Art Museum, the CCA Kunsthalle in Mallorca, as well as the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu and the Museum of Contemporary Art in MiercureaCiuc.
