Description
Pavel Alaszu (b. 1942 – d.1995) was a Romanian painter and illustrator. In 1968, he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Timișoara, where he was taught by esteemed artists such as Peter Jecza and Romul Nuţiu.
Alaszu is particularly known for his depictions of still life, using deep and often dark coloursin powerful and contrasting compositions. Gravitating towards an abstract expressionist style, his works deviate from the socialist realist canon, engendering strong emotions that are attentively derived from quotidian experiences.
Alaszu’s works have beenexhibited in cities such as Cluj, Bucharest and Timișoara.
