Petre Iorgulescu-Yor was a Romanian Expressionist painter born in Râmnicu Sărat. Despite graduating in law, he abandoned a legal career during World War I to pursue art. In 1919, he sold belongings and studied in Paris at the Académie Julian. His 1920 Salon debut marked the start of recognition. Iorgulescu-Yor specialized in village landscapes and won a gold medal at the 1929 Barcelona Exposition. Teaching at a private art school and serving at the Municipal Art Gallery in Bucharest, he led a bohemian life. Intense struggles marked his later years, culminating in his suicide in 1939, leaving behind a legacy of expressive art.
