As an artist, Roman Liška (b. 1980, Hamburg, Germany) aims to redefine and expand the parameters of painting as a media, developing a particular sensibility for shapes, textures and haptic experiences. He engages with the relationship between the sculptural and spatiality, using a wide range of materials from marble to commercial packaging and expanding foam. Liška equally draws on pop and visual culture references, and on an astute knowledge of painting and its history. He perceives painting as a language without, however, tying it to traditional conceptions about the medium. Solo exhibitions of Liška's works took place in London, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Milan.
