Additional info:
Simona Vasiliu Chintilă was a Romanian artist. She studied monumental painting at the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute in Bucharest and worked with different media, from drawing and watercolour to wood painting and large-scale mosaics. In her painterly practice, Chintilă focused on landscapes and still life, developing a highly unique style that skilfully intersects between avant-garde, post-impressionist and socialist realist influences. The paintings often use vivid, contrasting colour palettes that mark contrasts between different built and natural environments. Chintilă exhibited her works locally and internationally in France, Italy, and Switzerland. She is equally known for her monumental frescoes and mosaics across Romania–in Bucharest, Constanta, Piatra Neamț, and Tulcea.
