Description
Ștefan Câlția's works evoke a timeless present, narrated through universally relevant symbols, directly connected to life and the world. Câlția explores the mundane, depicting the beauty and significance of everyday objects and natural scenes, with the blue house being the synthesis of a Universe seen as a whole, a living organism that preserves memories and transforms itself alongside humanity.
The silkscreen on paper "The Gate of the Blue House," printed in a series of 300 copies, reproduces a drawing by Ștefan Câlția that illustrates the house and garden as a place of abundance, a place where we are surrounded by what is dear and familiar to us, emphasizing the importance of our relationship with nature. The symbol of the house and of the color blue in Ștefan Câlția's work transforms a specific cultural emblem of rural southern Transylvania and of the artist’s childhood into an expression of his love for his native places.
