Additional info:
Ștefan Sevastre was a Romanian modernist painter who studied painting under the guidance of Jean Alexandru Steriadi at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. Sevastre was also known for his monumental art pieces and as a curator in the 1980s. Sevastre’s paintings explore the boundaries between Geometric Abstraction, Constructivism and Concrete Art. His artistic process envisions an elaborate practice in which Sevastre develops a unique painting style, experimenting with colour and geometrical possibilities. Harmony, stability, and order, chromatically tinted with a sense of vulnerability and emotional warmth, reign over the universe of his paintings. His works have been exhibited both locally in Romania and internationally in countries such as France, Germany, and Belgium. In 2001, he received the Jury Prize at the Bucharest Art Salon. His works are part of public collections such as that of the National Museum of Contemporary ART (MNAC) in Bucharest or the National Museum of Fine Arts in Chișinău.
