Description

Tadeusz Ajdukiewicz (b. 1852, Wieliczka, Poland - d. 1916, Kraków, Poland) was a Polish realist painter and a member of the Munich School. He was also active in Romania as a court painter at the beginning of the 20th century. Ajdukiewicz is particularly known for his standing and equestrian portraits of aristocratic families, such as Queen Mary and Two Children (Prince Carol II and Princess Elisabeth), as well as historical paintings that depict battle scenes. His trip to the Middle East resulted in what many call his most important works on aesthetic grounds.

Throughout his career, Ajdukiewicz had exhibitions in Kraków, Warsaw, Lemberg, Vienna. His works are part of museum collections across Central Europe, for instance in Poland at the National Museums in Warsaw, Kraków, and Poznań, as well as in Austria at the Military History Museum in Vienna, or the Czech Republic at the Rudolfinum in Prague.
