Additional info:
Valentin Meiu (b. 1955) is a Romanian sculptor born in Tecuci, Galați County. Trained within the academic environment of Iași, he established himself through a distinctive sculptural language in which modern formality is intertwined with a refined sensibility for material and the expressive potential of volume. His practice investigates the relationship between space, rhythm, and corporeality, situating Romanian sculpture in dialogue with broader European currents of the latter half the twentieth century. Meiu has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions, where his works have been praised for their meditative and symbolic character. His sculptures are held in both public and private collections, admired for their precision and the poetic tension they convey. Nowadays, Valentin Meiu is regarded as a singular voice in contemporary Romanian sculpture, balancing sensitivity with expressive force and sustained inquiry into the plasticity of form.
