Additional info:
Vesko Gagović graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1988, where he also completed his MA in Painting in 1991. One of his most notable exhibitions took place in 2019, when he represented Montenegro at the 58th Venice Biennale with the project Odiseja / An Odyssey / Un’odissea. Gagović places particular importance on spatial and visual condensation, on the minimalism of vision, and above all, on the meditative and contemplative dimension of his art. His artistic evolution has passed through different phases, which have followed one another in the spirit of pluralistic aesthetics in contemporary visual arts, following the rhythms of the artist’s sensibility and his quest to explore new possibilities of artistic expression through painting, drawing, collage, as well as art objects and installations. The artist had numerous solo exhibitions in Montenegro, including one in 2015 at the Contemporary Art Centre, Podgorica, Montenegro, and another in 2018 ay the Modern Gallery, Podgorica, Montenegro. He has been awarded the 1st UNESCO Award at the 4th International Biennial, Cetinje, Montenegro, 2002.
