Additional info:
Victor Man is an esteemed Romanian contemporary painter who studied during the 1990s at the University of Fine Arts in Cluj. He moved to Israel in 2000 to enrich his artistic process at the Jerusalem Studio School, under the close supervision of painter Israel Hershberg. Man's paintings reshape a visual language full of discrepancies and juxtapositions through a well-controlled blend of images and a versatile palette of dark tones that unfold non-linear stories. His paintings overlap stand-alone symbols with more complex, seemingly allegorical narratives, always succeeding to define a clear conceptual perspective. Through carefully positioned details such as flowers, animals, and objects, Man reflects upon his own memories creating a unique visual dimension. His works have been exhibited in solo shows worldwide, in both public institutions and art galleries such as Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany; Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, Mexic; Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland; Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Bergamo, Italy; Galerie Max Hetzler, Paris, France; Hayward Gallery, London, UK; and Gladstone Gallery, New York, US. Man's paintings are included in collections of important international public institutions such as Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France; Contemporary Art Collection of the Federal Republic of Germany; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; and the Tate, London, UK. Victor Man represented Romania at the Venice Biennale in 2007.
