Additional info:
Viorel Grigore is a Romanian contemporary artist who works with painting and photography. In 1998, he graduated from the Painting department of the National University of the Arts, Bucharest. The artist’s early works are marked by an oscillation between expressionism and realism. Some of his paintings explore the human body in a multilayered fashion, cropping out and thus exacerbating certain body parts over which additional elements are superimposed. Tensions between lust and worship, modernity and tradition emerge through the artist’s complex visual language. His works have been exhibited in both solo and group presentations, being predominantly active on the Bucharest artistic scene.
