Vlado Martek is a poet, visual artist, writer, and one of the leading figures of the so-called "New Art Practice," which developed in Yugoslavia in the late 1970’s. Martek was also a part of the Group of Six Authors, active in Zagreb from 1975 to 1979. The fundamental feature of his work is the bringing together of language and visual arts in drawings, photographs, objects, paintings, actions, performances, and installations. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum Moderner Kunst, Vienna; Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana; and the Modern Art Museum, Wroclaw. His art features in many public and private collections, such as the Kontakt Collection, Vienna; Art Collection Telekom, Bonn; Museum of contemporary Art, Zagreb, and others.
