Description
Žarko Smiljanić is a Belgrade based artist, born in Pančevo, Serbia in 1956. Smiljanić has earned his Ph. D. at the Academy of Fine Arts Belgrade, where he is teaching as a professor today.
He is recognised as a leading CEE artist specialised in printmaking, etching and engraving. His most notable exhibitions include Schloss Wolfsburg, Graphic Collective Belgrade, City Gallery Sombor, City Gallery Uzice, City Hall Prague. He has been awarded in leading manifestations specialised in graphics, including: Graphic Biennale Acqui Terme, Graphic Biennale Ourense, Graphic Collective International Exhibition Belgrade, Graphic Art Biennial Belgrade.
Combining various printmaking techniques, he has developed a recognisable lyrical and metaphysical style of depicting landscapes in tonal shades.
