Extremely important lot with three items connected to Brâncuși’s visit to New York in autumn 1926.
Very rare catalogue for the exhibition at the Brummer Gallery, 1926 (November – December). Important documentary source, containing photo reproductions of exhibited works.
Letter sent by C. Brâncuși to Irina and Lizica Codreanu, in Paris, dated October 22, 2016, signed.
Unpublished photo of Brâncuși in front of “Măiastra” sculpture, stamped by the Underwood & Underwood Photo Studio. The picture was taken in John Quinn’s studio, the then-deceased buyer of the sculpture. Brâncuși had been asked to mend the base of the sculpture, taking advantage of his visit to New York. Quinn’s entire collection would be sold in 1927.
