Description

The iconic ‘Elizabeth’ chair was designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1956 and was presented at the Copenhagen Cabinet-makers’ Guild Exhibition the same year. Originally known under model ‘U-56’, the chair received the name ‘Elizabeth’ after Queen Elizabeth II acquired a pair during a state visit to Denmark in 1958.

Ib Kofod-Larsen often works with precious woods, such as teak or rosewood, as well as rich leathers. His work is characterized by clean and sculptural lines. The ‘Elizabeth’ chair is one of his most notable pieces and is composed of an exquisitely crafted, sculptural carved frame in solid teak wood and leather upholstery.

The chair is in very good condition. The teak wood has been carefully restored, preserving the original patina. The leather is in overall good vintage condition with minor wear.
