Description
A cylindrical teapot executed in repoussé and engraving, decorated with chrysanthemum blossoms and scrolling vegetal motifs. The body is structured around a prominent central medallion bearing a kamon (Japanese family crest), composed of a three-leaf motif, suggesting affiliation with a specific lineage or heraldic tradition.
The detachable lid follows the cylindrical contour of the body, consistent with Japanese teapot construction of the Meiji period. The overall design reflects the refined metalwork of late 19th-century Japan, where naturalistic ornament and heraldic emblems are integrated into functional objects.
The presence of a French assay mark indicates later circulation in Europe, where the piece was tested and certified according to the French 950‰ silver standard. An additional Romanian control mark suggests subsequent verification within the Romanian assay system in the mid- to late 20th century.
