Description
A matched pair of fruit baskets, executed in silver and defined by balanced proportions and refined construction. The bodies are shaped and elevated, with openwork or lightly articulated contours typical of English silver of the early 20th century. The design reflects the transition from late Victorian traditions to a more restrained interwar aesthetic, where clarity of form and craftsmanship take precedence.
The pieces are produced by Elkington & Co., one of the leading English firms of the period, and bear full Birmingham hallmarks with date letter “D” corresponding to 1928.
