Description
A circular, deep fruit bowl with a lobed body and a narrow, strongly pronounced scalloped rim. The central field is left plain, contrasting with the articulated contour of the border. The piece is raised on three small feet, providing both stability and visual elevation.
The form is obtained by pressing in a die, resulting in a clear and regular profile, characteristic of early 20th-century Central European silver. The emphasis on contour and proportion reflects a restrained decorative approach, where the silhouette defines the object.
The hallmarks correspond to the Austro-Hungarian system for small objects (1867–1922), indicating 800 standard silver. The maker’s mark “DS” remains unidentified. A Romanian control mark (1926–1937), including the Bucharest Mint letter “P”, attests to later circulation and official verification within Romania.
