Description
A jewellery casket of ovoid form, raised on four cast feet in the shape of lion’s paws, and fitted with a hinged lid and key-operated lock. The surface is finely engraved with restrained neoclassical motifs, arranged in a balanced ornamental scheme that emphasises symmetry and clarity of design.
The object is executed through hammering, casting and engraving, reflecting the refined workshop practices of Austro-Hungarian silver production in the late 19th to early 20th century.
The hallmarks indicate production within the Austro-Hungarian system, with the Diana head mark confirming the 800 silver standard. The presence of a town mark allows for attribution to Trnava, situating the piece within the regional network of silver workshops of the period.
