Description
A rectangular sugar box with rounded corners, raised on four small feet and fitted with a hinged lid. The surfaces are entirely smooth and undecorated, emphasising clarity of form and proportion. The lid is engraved with the monogram “EPR”, indicating ownership or a personalised commission.
The restrained design, devoid of applied ornament, places the object within a stylistic range that may be associated with late Biedermeier simplicity or an early Art Deco preference for clean geometry and unadorned surfaces.
The marks, though partially worn, indicate a high silver standard (950‰) within the Austro-Hungarian system, alongside a maker’s mark “HS”.
