Ion Hoeflich (1912–1974) was a Romanian painter trained during the interwar period, whose artistic vision was shaped by the cultural and ideological transformations of
Greater Romania. Emerging from a family of artists of Austrian descent settled in Ploiești, Hoeflich's work is marked by a tension between inherited Central European influences and the specific aesthetic aspirations of Romanian modernism.

Hoeflich's painting navigates a refined lyricism, often leaning toward post-impressionist approaches, where figuration and atmosphere converge in discreet yet emotionally
charged compositions. His preferred subjects—landscapes, interiors, and portraits— evoke a world suspended between bourgeois intimacy and a wider historical melancholy.
