Description
Painted circa 1967-68, this lot showcases an early work by Georges Doche. An almost pharaonic figure dominates the left side of the work, set against a stark black background. Chaotic, tentacle-like protrusions emerge from behind the figure’s stoic profile, striking a balance between dynamic movement and stillness. Doche’s captivating composition suspends his fantastical subject matter with poised restraint. The contrast between translucent forms and bold, sharp outlines imparts a distinctive quality, inviting the viewer into the artist’s highly stylized realm.
