Camil Ressu spent the warm seasons in nature – an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him.  Ressu’s landscapes have a balanced chromatic palette, accentuated by predominant tones of purple and rosy pinks that reproduce the specific and mystical atmosphere of the landscape. 

The work “Baigneuses by the River” is part of this category, when Ressu began to be clearer in expression. During the ‘20s, he started emphasising the lines of the drawing in perfect balance with the limited palette of tones, used in a manner inspired by French masters such as Cézanne, Matisse or Renoir, all of whom Ressu adored. Even though the composition builds up with the detailed depiction of the landscape, an element that may seem as the major one for this work, the characters are the ones completing the picture. The characters take on the important role of enriching nature with their presence.

Peisajele lui Ressu au o paletă cromatică echilibrată și o dinamică accentuată de tonuri predominante de violet și rozuri trandafirii care redau realist atmosfera specifică și mistică a peisajului pe care pictorul îl percepe. 

Lucrarea ”Peisaj cu Baigneuses” face parte din această categorie, atunci când în perioada anilor ’20, Ressu începe să devină din ce în ce mai clar în exprimare, prin accentuarea liniilor desenului aflate în echilibru perfect cu paleta limitată a tonurilor folosite, manieră inspirată din marii maeștri francezi precum Cézanne, Matisse sau Renoir pe care Ressu i-a admirat până la adorație. Compoziția se compune din redarea detaliată a peisajului, însă chiar dacă aparent este principalul subiect al operei, personajele nu sunt neglijate în această lucrare. Personajele sunt introduse în compoziție nu ca un element secundar, ci ca un accent punctual cu scopul exaltării frumuseții naturii.
